In 2013 we went to the Chitwan national park in Nepal to do some trials for autonmous landscape mapping missions with fixed wing drones.

The airframe used was my own development, the Vanguard. It had a payload capacity of approx. 0.5 kg and a range/endurance of 100km/2h. The drone was build to last and was cheap to build with off the shelf components.

It could be used in rough terrain where there was not proper landing strip. Future versions with a parachute landing systems were in development.
